How to select a file(s) to convert

When you start any converter for the first time, it will open the file selection window automatically and say: "Please select a bank file to convert". So, it will remember the last folder you used to select the file and for the first time, it will be the 'Downloads' folder. And, in this case, we are selecting the sample-bank-statement.pdf.

Depending on the converter you will see different files, listed here, some converters, like Bank2, convert all kinds of formats: CSV, OFX, QIF, QFX, PDF, TXT, and you can select all of them, but some converters, like PDF2QBO - you will see only PDF files listed. IMPORTANT: PDF2QBO is now replaced with the [ProperConvert] app, which converts from more formats and converts to more formats.

So, only applicable formats are listed. You can select multiple files, using the 'Ctrl' button and on Windows and the 'Comment' button on the macOS. You can click the first one, then hold the 'Comment' or 'Ctrl' button and click the second one and this way you can load multiple files. When you open it - it will load both files together.

This is useful when you have files of similar structure and they are for several months, so, you can convert, let's say, one year of data in one shot.

When you want to load another file again, you have to click the 'Browse' button. And the 'Browse' button returns back to the file selection form, and, in this case, we can select one file and walk with it. Let's say, we want to select a PDF file.

There is an option to 'Paste' from Excel and other spreadsheet software. What you can do? If you have a table, like data in Excel, then you can edit data in Excel and select that range, copy it, and then click 'Paste' here to paste data.

There is another option. Let's say we want to use a sample-bank-statement-xero.csv file.

You can see this file clear on 'Source'. What you can do?

You can technically edit this file, any way you like, and then you select everything, copy - 'Ctrl-C', then you click 'Paste'.

And then you see, that this amount was updated - this is another way to quickly edit the file or reload the file with changed values.
